These are the emeralds that remind me of chocolate lime sweets !!
As I have always been interested in Arts & Crafts, painting drawing & doing cross stitch every year I go to the Knitting & Stitching show in the RDS in Dublin. In 2010 I noticed there were more bead stands, over the years I had bought odd beads, but never did anything with them. I always planned & thought oh they would make a nice necklace, but was not really sure how to actually make. I also picked up a leaflet from a workshop stand, which offered a range of Jewellery making classes. So in January 2011 I took a class, making a floating necklace, bracelet & a couple of pairs of earrings - from then I was hooked. Anyone who has ever made a piece of Jewellery will tell you - it is addictive. Just actually making a piece, picking the beads and then being able to wear it, is a great feeling. The range of beads out there is amazing, so many different types, colours & shapes. I love sead beads - they come in such a vast range of colours, plain matt shimmering, silver lined & they are great to add into a piece. My other favourites are semi-precious gems - especially Hematite & Laboradite, I am still learning about these, as there is such a vast range of gems & stones, some I have never heard off. Lots have different qualitys & healing properties to them & it is this that I am learning along with the vast different types. So much to discover - I always thought Sapphires were blue, but they also come in a vast range of other colours, pink creams oranges all in different hues. The stones which we know as sparkling clear gems, can also be opaque with veins of differing colours. I recently purchased some drops of emeralds which are opaque and remind me of chocolate lime sweets, as they are the same shade. Have not used them yet, as still deciding what to make. More to follow...............
